Sustainable Seafood Competition with Master Chefs of Great Britain

The Master Chefs of Great Britain in association with the Marine Conservation Society are holding a Sustainable Seafood Competition for college students and chefs of all ages with a maximum of 5 years of culinary experience.

The competition is centred around one of the UK’s finest fish – Haddock.

Competition details are as follows:

Stage 1

Competitors submit a paper entry (by email) with their recipe, costings, allergen details, a photo of the dish, and a short biography and photograph of themselves. Please compile these details in a word document and together with your photo’s attach them to your email.

The main ingredient of your dish must be Sustainably Caught Haddock.

Submit your entry to competitions@masterchefsgb.co.uk.

MCGB Committee will judge these paper entries and shortlist them to 10 finalists.

Stage 2

Each finalist will be required to provide a short 2-minute video of themselves preparing and presenting their chosen dish.

Each of the 10 finalists will receive a £20 contribution towards their ingredients and two complimentary plates provided by Churchill for plating their chosen dishes.

All finalist will receive a certificate.

MCGB Committee together with a representative from the Marine Conservation Society will select a runner up and winner. The judges’ decisions are final!

Prizes

Winner: Plaque, £250 cash prize, feature in the next issue of the Masterchef magazine and a deluxe fish hamper including a fish descaler, fishbone tweezers, fish slice, oyster knife, lobster pick and cracker, Galton Blackiston Hook, Line, Sinker Cookbook and a Masterchefs apron.

Runner Up: £100 cash prize, photo in the next issue of Masterchef magazine, Galton Blackiston Hook, Line, Sinker Cookbook and a Masterchefs apron.

Third Prize: £50 cash prize, photo in the next issue of Masterchef magazine, Galton Blackiston Hook, Line, Sinker Cookbook and a Masterchefs apron.

Entries are open from 1st – 31st March

The shortlisted finalists will be announced on Friday 9th April.

Finalist videos to be submitted by Friday 23rd April

Winner, 2nd and 3rd places will be announced on Friday 30th April via a Zoom call with all finalists.
